Product worked great for the first week and a half then my skin started burning after I used it. I am using Clindamycin Phosphate 1% and Tretinoin Cream0.05% which were prescribed to me by my dermatologist to deal with my acne scars. At first, I thought that is was one of the prescriptions that irritated my skin but after 3 days of not using the Cetaphil Cleanser, the burning has almost completely stopped. I was really hoping to love this product but unfortunately, it didn’t agree with my skin type.

COUNTERFEIT!! I purchased this in September but didn’t open it until now (my last bottle hadn’t run out yet), and I found that both bottles of the two-pack were filled with what seems to be liquid laundry detergent. It was transparent (real Cetaphil is milky and translucent), thicker in consistency than real Cetaphil, has a harsh detergent-like odor, and burned my skin.

I try to use healthy products in my home, and this is moderately so. Works fine as a basic cleanser. However–note to others who may care and did not read ingredients carefully: this does contain SLS and parabens. I’ll not purchase again.

Friends, please don’t misjudge this product by expecting it to be Cetaphil’s regular cleanser, known as “Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser.” This product, namely “Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser,” sold by this seller is completely legit. They are two completely different products. This cleanser is meant to be opaque, whitish in color.

My dermatologist recommended it to me two years ago when I unexpectedly developed rosacea on my cheeks. Prior to that, I always had normal, unproblematic, acne-free skin. I’ve been using it ever since. It is indeed gentle and soothing. I don’t use it to remove makeup. I don’t think it was made to effectively remove my makeup or my spf 50 sunscreen. That’s okay, as I use another tried and true one-step facial cleanser at night. I use this, Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, first thing in the morning, followed by a gentle exfoliator or a holy-grail toner I’m wedded to. This cleans my skin, and sets a calm clean canvas for me to then use the rest of my skincare regimen (toner, serums, moisturizer & spf). I no longer suffer from rosacea now, thanks to this (and without any Rx). I also can count on this gentle cleanser to calm my skin when I try a new product that unexpectedly irritates me.

So, please don’t hate this if you expected it to be another, completely different product by Cetaphil. As this is just my experience, my opinion, I understand if this product didn’t work for you, or if it unexpectedly irritated your skin. Finally, if you’re concerned about parabens, I get it. I steer away from parabens normally. But check out how it’s listed last on this product. That’s a good thing. More importantly, look up what seasoned consumer advocate turned beauty guru and manufacturer, Paula Begoun (of Paula’s Choice), opines about parabens in skincare. See beautypedia.com.

My Dermatologist recommended I use Cetaphil years ago for my sensitive skin and I’ve used it ever since. Cetaphil Gentle Skin cleanser is soap-free and gentle enough for my sensitive skin. I use this in the shower on my face and body. It’s comes out almost like lotion and leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed. It rinses off easily and can even be used without water. The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleansing cloths are a nice combo to add here as I use them to refresh my face or in my gym bag.

I don’t like the consistency of this soap. I prefer something that lathers and lets me feel the soap actually cleanser my skin. However, this works. I use this after wipes sometimes but mostly I kind of just go straight to this and then use a washcloth to wipe away all the make up that washed off Which is just eyeliner and under eye makeup. I haven’t noticed any improvement in my acne. I actually have an inflamed pimple currently and I use this stuff every morning. I will up the usage and start using this at night to see if it helps to soothe my skin. I started using this about 3 or 4 weeks ago after a failed chemical peel. I needed something very gentle yet cleansing. I will be using some other type of medicated cleanser after washing with this just because my kind of acne needs treatment.

I don’t know why magazines recommended this cleanser. I have oily skin and I feel like this doesn’t do anything. This was a two-pack and I can’t give the second one away. If you want a super gentle cleanser and you have sensitive/dry skin, then maybe this is for you. I’m going to stay with my Origins Checks and Balances cleanser.

This is one of my favourite cleansers. It is one of the best for sensitive/oily/combination skin as its super light/gentle and will not irritate or break out the skin. I would also recommend it to people who suffer from acne as it has a high tolerance and is super gentle on the skin so it will really help to ease it. It cleanses perfectly and removes all traces of makeup as well as dirt and anything else that builds up in the pores. It leaves your skin soft, smooth and squeaky clean and leaves the skin feeling so good! I would highly recommend using this in conjunction with the moisturizer. It is also great for the summer months when you don’t want to use too much product on the skin as it is so lightweight and helps to prevent oil. You get a lot of it in the bottle and a little goes a long way so you don’t need much. I like that it comes with a pump which makes it much easier to use. Don’t be put off by the plain packaging as it really is a fantastic cleanser and for the price you simply cannot go wrong!

I’ve been using this on and off since a dermatologist recommended it to me as a teenager. I’ve experimented with fancier cleansers and some very expensive ones, but I keep coming back to Cetaphil. It’s great for all kinds of skin and is very gentle. I’m not always great at remembering to wash my face at night, and sometimes I even forget to take my make-up off even though I know that’s a huge no-no. Cetaphil makes it so easy! In the morning I use it just like a regular face wash, but in the evening I just pat it gently on my skin without water and then carefully wipe it off. It takes 30 seconds and I’m done.

Cetaphil also works really well with the Clarisonic or other electric face brushes. If you have a problem with blackheads or whiteheads, or if your skin is dry and patchy and won’t absorb moisturizer properly (my skin does all of these things!) I would really recommend trying Cetaphil with an electric facial brush. It will help exfoliate your skin to keep blackheads at bay, and it also allows for better penetration by the products you use afterwards.
