I’ve been wearing the watch for several months now. So far so good!
No dents no dings no scratches, arrived new, on time, and as expected.

Some reviews talk about it being ‘big’, but it’s the same size as the Timex I just moved out of, which I wore from age 17, to 25.
It’s not small but its also not one of those huge pop culture watches, it’s just right for your average adult male.

Band feels a tad light, not quite cheap, but not high end either.
Hollow is how I’d describe it.
But the face and watch head are great, sharp, attractive, with some heft, but not heavy at all.

Top button starts/stops timer, bottom button is hold to reset.
1/4 pop on winding dial to adjust date.

Update: 1 year later, and still 0 complaints. I wear it everyday, and I’m not gentle, but the watch has held up perfectly. Only very minor wearing of the finish on the outer side of the band, where it rubs on my desk all day long, it’s only noticeable on close inspection.

This watch is class. As all fossil watches it’s made perfectly looks amazing in the black with the blue in the dials. It’s light weight but not too light to feel flimsy. A great quality product if you have never bought a fossil before you should start with your next watch purchase

    – Background –
I’m a 17 year old male who recently had a desire to get a watch. First place I checked was my grandpa because I had no idea which brands to look at. My grandpa owned several brands but his best watch was a Fossil.

    – Research –
I spent a couple hours across the span of a few days researching many analog watches. I mostly looked at $20-60 watches, and all of them had terrible reviews. I found some trends with these cheap watches, they all had false advertising for water ratings and their bands were either faux leather or had weak pins in their links. Most of them didn’t last their owner longer than half a year.
    > So I thought, why spend $40 on a watch that lasts maybe a year– at best–when I can spend twice the amount for a watch that lasts way longer and looks a ton better too.

    – Metal Band –
The metal band is really nice in person. Everyone says the watch in total [with band] is kind of heavy, but I have say [and I have a small wrist], it was NOT heavy at all. Keep in mind, this is my VERY first watch so maybe the other reviewers were comparing to their smaller lighter watches.

    – Watch Face –
Most people here are disappointed that the blue accents on the smaller dials in the watch face aren’t pronounced enough, but I haven’t seen that as a problem. If you get a decent light ray on the watch you’ll see the nice blue accents at the exact color that is shown in the product pictures. The side buttons and crown aren’t big and annoying: something I thought might have been a problem. I assure you this watch is amazing.

    – Sizing –
Some people here are disappointed about “having to get a new band” because the links are too big to make an actual adjustment. I don’t understand where they’re coming from because when I went to my local jeweler, she was able to take the right amount of links off and adjust the closest link to the clasp [there are 3 adjustable pin spots for the link closest to the clasp on each side] which proved to help fine tuning the adjustment [I had taken 3 links out because my wrist was a bit small]. The jeweler instilled in me that the watch may have to fall loosely over my wrist [where the carpal (or the big round bone thingy) is]. This was not the case, I was easily able to adjust the band to the perfect size even for my smaller wrist.

    – Conclusion –
All in all, this watch is f’ing amazing. Since you’ve clicked on this watch, that means you’ve shown a little interest in it. Which means you are hesitant to buying it but would still consider it. STOP CONSIDERING AND ORDER IT ALREADY!

Fossil watches are amazing and I’m glad I got this one for my first watch ever!
[ Might update in a couple months to a year to let you know how well it holds up. ]
[ Also will try to upload some good looking pictures and not from a 5 megapixel flip recorder lol. ]

    Definitely 5/5.

The watch looks excellent but How to know whether the product is original or fake?? The back of the watch is displaying FS5164I whereas the model is FS5164. Is it the same for everyone. One more thing is i saw the warranty card where it is mentioned that warranty is applicable only if dealers stamp is available but i didn’t get any dealers stamp. When i registered this watch in fossil website, it’s registered but not displaying the image of this watch whereas when i brought another fossil watch but different one previously and registered in official site, it was displaying the image of that watch. Someone please answer my doubt please. Do you have the same model number inscribed behind the watch like mine or not?
    Update on 30 Sept 2019:
Though the above doubts still persist, the watch has been good so far.. No scratches even when the watch has hit walls or door accidentally.

    Update on 1st Aug 2020:
No scratches yet despite repeated hits to walls or some heavy objects accidentally.. Now i got to believe that it’s a genuine one.. Working fine as of now.

This is my first Fossil watch so I can’t compare against their other offerings, but I’ll provide my advice based on other watches I’ve had. Overall, the watch is ok, but I got it at a good price so perceived value is very high. There are some drawbacks but they aren’t deal breakers.

    1) Silicone band looks nice but moisture gets trapped between the band and your skin. After a day’s use your skin under the wrist can get slightly wet depending on your activity. Office workers won’t have too much of a problem, but people on the move will probably want a more breathable band in my opinion. This isn’t specifically a problem with Fossil because even my friend’s G-shock has the same problem, so it’s because of the rubber/silicone bands on any watch. Just something to realize.

    2) Silicone band is very soft and bendable. This can be nice as it provides maximum comfort, but I almost wish it was more rugged and sturdy. It just feels delicate. So I’ve been baby’ing it lately. No idea how long the band will last.

    3) Clasp is flimsy when on the rist. I think this is because the band is flimsy? But either way I wouldn’t use this watch for any type of athletic or physical labor situations in fear of it getting caught on something and potentially damaging the connection.

    4) Straps to tuck in excess band overlap on the underside will sometimes slide off. It’s likely because the silicone material is so smooth and slippery that I find myself having to adjust the retaining straps a few times per day.

    1) Good size for larger wrists. I measured my wrist circumference and it’s about 8.25″ at the moment and you can see by the picture the larger 45mm dial seems proportional. So larger wrists will like this watch I think.

    2) Good value. I wouldn’t pay full price for this. But I was able to grab this on a nice sale and I’m ok with that price ($70). Anything more and I’m not sure to be honest, I might do more research on other larger dial watches first before recommending this.

    3) Looks pretty good overall. I realize this is subjective but the design is pretty cool and simple but classic. I’ve never owned a black watch before and I like the option to wear it on occasion. I have not received any comments about it in two weeks so it’s not a head turner in my experience.

As I’m scrolling through Amazon looking for a new Fossil watch I ran into this one and immediately recognized it. I bought this exact one back in 2015 and it being the only watch I own, I’ve worn it almost every single day for the past three years. After wearing it so much, the sapphire crystal face is still intact and I could probably sell it for a good price if I wanted to. It has virtually no scratches on it and the battery hasn’t died yet either after all this time. I’m looking for a new Fossil watch which is how I ran into this post and why I’m writing this review so if you’re looking for a watch that looks good with every single thing you wear and will last a long time. This is the one. I love mine and will be buying another Fossil watch soon but not to replace mine. Just to have another style to choose from.
