I teach online and my laptop doesn’t have an Ethernet plug. I’ve been relying on WiFi, but it was too often not good enough. I was super skeptical Of these adapters because it just boggles my mind how it works. After another online teacher reassured me that she uses an adapter and it works perfectly, I decided to give it a try. I also needed more usb outlet, and this little thing has been amazing! My internet connection is top notch. Definitely recommend.

Nowadays most laptops lack Ethernet ports. Also to keep the sleek design and the weight as controlled as possible, they don’t really come with a lot of USB 3.0 ports. This well built and fairly inexpensive device solves those two things if you find yourself in that situation (I recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 7590 here at Amazon, and found myself in that exact spot). Now I have two extra USB ports (one is the trade-off to connect the device to) and I also have a very fast Ethernet port in case I need to hardwired my Internet connection to get a faster speed. Overall satisfied with this device, which you can also reuse in any other laptop if needed

I really thought I’d bought a dud when I first connected this device, as the USB kept disconnecting every few seconds, making that annoying three-beep melody. I updated the driver through device manager, with no success. To diagnose the problem, I tried it on a new laptop, and it remained stable, so it seemed my ancient Dell computer was actually the problem. After some searching, I found the Realtek driver on the Dell site (my PC is a Dell). Once installed, the device has worked perfectly and I am getting a good connection speed. The extra USB ports are a bonus.

Plug and play on surface pro 6. My surface only has 1 USB port and no Ethernet port available. With this expansion, I now have 2 more USB ports and Ethernet for hard wire internet connection. Solid build and I expect it to last until I replace the surface.

I like it! So far, just PROs

    1. It works with our very old, small laptop that we’re using for our kids their internet based shows to watch on our not so smart old tv
    2. Our OS is Linux so I was initially worried about plug & play compatibility
    3. The company shortly after receiving this sent me an email with driver links, in case of problems. When I informed them I was using Linux and which one, they replied quickly with a link for a driver.
Frankly, I never needed the links. The thing was plug and play.

We currently have it wired to the old laptop for watching and there’s a bluetooth dongle on one of the USB slots because am using a wireless mouse and keyboard. The 3 extra USB has made it more convinient, even if it’s $1+ more expensive than the cheapest wire only to USB alternative I saw.

Might be getting one for my SOs laptop since it doesn’t have a network cable slot.

I ordered this for my fiancee, who owns a 2-in-1 Dell laptop used for remote instruction. Unlike her newer Surface, which has USB-C but lacks a video output or card reader, it lacks USB-C but does have HDMI and an SD reader. Thus it doesn’t need the 8-in-one adapter I bought for the Surface, but still needs more USB ports and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
One of the Dell’s two 3.0 USB’s supports power pass-through while the laptop is off, and this adapter allows for low-level charging by that method. However, the instruction sheet does not recommend using it for connecting a large-capacity external hard drive. Right now it’s being used for a supplemental desktop camera with little difficulty.
We currently have Spectrum’s 480 mbps wideband, which the Dell’s 2.0 USB interface could also support, but USB 3.0 has capacity of 5X Gigabit speed. While many improvements in dual-band Wi-Fi technology have been implemented in recent years, there is still no substitute for the raw speed of Gigabit Ethernet. This is an effective and inexpensive device for any laptop not already equipped with an RJ-45.

The ABLEWE USB 3.0 to Ethernet Hub Adapter worked great on my Windows laptop however the device is NOT suitable for a Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (model: E9L29Y) – The hub will connect and support USB storage however the Ethernet port will not be recognised.

I can’t deduct a star for this really as the product didn’t say that it did support such device however it would have been nice to know in the description as to what chipset was inside. I did contact the support email prior to order and received an email back a few days later however I had already tried my luck to see if it would work as I didn’t think I would actually receive a reply with the response coming a few days after.

The seller did respond (I emailed using the email address I had seen in people’s reviews) they did say this wouldn’t work with a Nintendo Switch, which is the same chipset needed for a Fire TV Stick 4K (model: E9L29Y) to recognise.

“Our hub does not work on Nintendo Switch, since it needs another chipset inside”

One reviewer of the same product said theirs worked with a Nintendo Switch hence why I purchased the device before I got response from the seller, I’m not sure how the reviewer could have even got theirs to work on a Nintendo Switch given the fact the seller stated to me it’s not compatible…

So just to wrap up, the ABLEWE USB 3.0 to Ethernet Hub Adapter WILL NOT work with an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (model: E9L29Y) via a OTG cable if that is what you are intending to use this product for.

I have since been issued with a refund returned the product.

Wired Ethernet connection was easily established. Just turned on my wife’s HP 14″ 14s-dq0000na Windows S laptop and then plugged in the adapter. Drivers were instantly installed (Realtek USB GbE) via plug and play. Upon connecting Ethernet cable to the adapter the existing wireless connection was automatically superseded by the new Wired one at full Gigabit (other end of cable plugged into Gigabit port on my router, obviously). I was very impressed with ease of setup and glad I didn’t run into driver issues what with laptop being Windows S device. Now the wife can do her Zoom exercise classes without worrying about WiFi dropouts.

I bought my wife an ethernet/USB adapter called “TECKNET Aluminum 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub with RJ45 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter” a few weeks ago. That one worked perfectly so I decided to buy another one for a different computer, as we’ve switched all of our devices in the house to ethernet to avoid glitchy wifi.

The one I had bought said it would take almost a week to arrive, so I bought this one, thinking that it would be the same thing. Unfortunately, it’s not. This one runs very warm (the other one has no temperature to the touch) and does not have any ethernet blinking lights, so it was hard to tell if it was doing anything at first (it wasn’t — I needed to reboot my computer in order for it to work).

Minor additional things — it comes in an unbranded box, so it’s clear that it’s just a generic model many sellers sell, and there is no writing next to any of the ports, making it different than the item pictured.

It still works, thus the 4 star rating, but I’d definitely recommend the other model instead — it’s worth the two extra dollars.

Just got a Macbook 2015 and there are only two usb ports with and two useless thunderbold and not even an ethernet port.
This hub is the salvation: it adds 2 USB ports and one ethernet port – yes, I want hard wire to the router.
You ask, why two ports when the hub shows three ports ? Well, you have to connect to one of the computer ports and that one is gone – it is accessible on the hub, leaving 2 others.
Still, doesn’t matter: I’d recommend this hub for the price and the ethernet port and being a life saver.
