I can verify that this works for full gigabit LAN on a MacBook pro. It’s well built and easy to use.

    Reasons to avoid this product:
It is compatible with android devices (I have a Pixel 2) but it will drain the battery like nothing I’ve ever seen. Obviously, you can’t charge your phone while this is plugged in, and that’s more of a problem than you might think. If you thought it was a good idea to buy a single port MacBook, you might see unusual battery drain there, too. I never tested that. (Don’t buy the single port MacBook.)
Unplugging an Ethernet cable from it might be a bit more difficult than expected, but plugging one in is easy. This could be a problem with my ethernet cables themselves getting caught on something in the port hole’s innards.
I’ve never been a big fan of small drawstring bags for small electronics, but at least the one that it came with was made of good materials. One of the drawstrings untied itself, but it’s not developing any holes.

Otherwise, it works, it’s durable, it’s fast, and it’s reliable. The product description accurately describes it. The dongle cable is stiff but wonderfully thick, and I don’t see it fraying or getting damaged any time soon. I do not have any way to test the max speed this thing says it is capable of, or whether it is capable of sustaining that speed. It’s an important aspect that you should check for an answer to before purchasing.

Impressed… 850Mb/s without hesitation, Realtek GbE USB Family driver installed automatically on Win10 on Lenovo Flex 5-1470, using device manager looked up dongle under Network Adapters and updated driver to v10.19.705.2017. Looks well built, slightly warm to touch. Metal both USB-C conector *AND* Ethernet jack. Proof is long term reliability, but for now I can highly recommend. Kudos. Well done.

On occasions Ethernet connection is essential, BT require direct connection to hub during certain fault finding procedures.
latest devices do not always have this. This adapter worked perfectly when tested on a Windows 10 laptop.
I marked it as four star only because I could not make a connection when I tried the same process on a Samsung Tablet S4 running Android. This may well be down to my lack of knowledge with Android devices though. Overall pleased with adapter.

I have used the adapter for a week only. The adapter appears to be made of high quality materials and to be very durable. It works without issues on my MacBook Pro with Touch Bar Late 2016.

The box includes the adapter and a small fabric bag for carrying and storing it. The Ethernet end of the adapter has two led indicators that light up when the cable is connected and data is being transferred, respectively.

Needed something to hardline my computer for a few cases here and there. This does the job it’s plug and play and a full gigabit connection so now I can get full use out of my fiber internet I was getting about 903 down and 930 up I suspect it can go higher my internet was just being “slow” for the moment. (900mbs is very very very fast still) I recommend this for anyone who has a macbook. it comes with a nice travel bag and its very sturdy, so keeping it in your backpack should be fine. The casing is made from metal and the braided cable is a nice touch.

Uni don’t make a ton of products. However both the dodgy fly-by-nights, & huge, experienced, reputable manufacturers like Anker & Aukey both do, at least on Amazon… so distinguishing which camp this maker falls in, can be confusing. One thing that immediately stood out to me though, was how nicely finished this product is.

Details — like logos centered precisely on connector and unit bodies, match of mating surfaces, and even quality of anodization — all suggest those who call the shots at Uni aren’t exchanging short-term profit for lost reputation & re-branding later, so this passes my is-this-a-stereotypical-cynical-product test. Similar to Spigen and their smartphone cases.

Another thoughtful feature is its cable cover isn’t simple polymer but a braided textile one — which means it won’t fight whatever shape you need it to be in as much, unlike Answin’s Magsafe-to-USB-C dongle I bought to repurpose my old MBP’s power block. Small detail, but it shows who Uni’s building this product for: users.

Probably way more type than this deserves… but seems a quality product, and I’ll prop that. However… I’ll amend this review if down the line it shows avoidable design flaws, as always.

I don’t mind Uni making few products… as long as those it does, are made to the same standard as this one. 🙂

    Five stars (1/31/2019).

I bought this USB C to Ethernet adapter for a laptop I was trying to image which did not have a built in ethernet port on the motherboard. We use Dell products and the WD15 Dell Dock Station did not let me laptop pickup any PXE servers on our network. I was concerned I would need to purchase the $35 Dell USB C to Ethernet adapter, but the UNI adapter worked perfectly. I was able to see IPv4 and IPv4 NIC choices during pre-boot and was able to see my images on the PXE server on my laptop to image the laptop.

I purchased this adapter for my Huawei Matebook Pro, not having an ethernet port in the ultrabook but needing occasionally to download large files and also check network settings. The braided cord arrived quickly, and is of the same high quality as the rest of Uni’s products, and whilst I have only used it for a short period of time, I would be surprised if there were any long term issues with it, and it works just as intended, with no difference between it and an ethernet port to ethernet port cable would have. Perhaps the cord could have been longer, or available for purchase in a longer form, however this is a nitpick and I have nothing to complain about with the product. The additional carry bag included was a nice touch.

I LOVE this cable! I have a MacBook Pro (which ONLY has 4 USB-C ports). No other type of connectors.

    1) I am a fitness instructor and had been doing zoom classes online. I had been getting video freezes while teaching using wireless. Hence I go this cable.
I LOVE it! Video comes through real time and no complaint from my participants.

    2) I was not able to see the printer on my network using wireless. My husband had hid it behind a private network. I worked on for 2 weeks trying to resolve the problem. I tried upgrading the driver and searched online on how to resolve it.
When I received the cable, I hooked up my ethernet cable and “Lo and behold!”, there was my printer!

Wireless networks are great for lots of work. But sometimes, having a cabled network is so much more valuable and reliable. Such a great investment!
