Hey it’s a nice little watch. By no means a fashion statement but this rugged little guy serves it’s purpose well.
I am an avid hiker including night hikes. Being able to reach over and press that huge button on the side of the watch and having very well illuminated large numerals and hands works great. It’s worth noting although the dial is very visible it does not affect your night vision at all. It’s warm indirect light.
You wouldn’t catch me on a night on the town wearing this watch but it is a favorite for outdoor activities. That’s my experience with this watch and I don’t regret buying it from Amazon even a little bit.

Very lite, light strong, velcro strap can be adjusted very fine.

wow. I am very impressed. At first I was surprised how tiny the watch was, much smaller than I expected. But after wearing it for two days – I am sold. I can barely feel it on my wrist while at home or doing heavy labor at work. The dial is very clear and easy to see at a glance. The LED light looks janky at first, but it actually makes sense and just works. The strap is super comfortable and infinitely adjustable.

I wear these Forester watches for work and beat them up pretty good, but they hold up well. This is my third one in 7 years. I like the simplicity and size and the Velcro band secures it well on my slender wrist. Price is as good as Walmart and much easier to get, since I’ve had such a hard time finding anybody to serve at the Walmart Jewelry counters. They keep them locked up there. Much easier to order here and get it in a couple days.

I use this watch on and about the farm. It’s great as an everyday beater. The price is cheap and it does what it should do.

Over the past several years, I have purchased multiple Casio watches and overall, I they are comfortable, accurate, and can take abuse. However, there is one thing that seems to be a common thread through all of them, and that is an inconsistent or even totally non-functioning back-light. Now, I need to make it understood that I wear my watch 24 hours a day and refer to in in the middle of the night if I need to know the time. So I get it that I put my watches through a lot more wear and tear than the average person, but I have since moved on from Casio to Timex because of the issues I have had.

    Here’s the breakdown:

First watch bought – SGW-100. Great watch, but light would work sometimes, and sometimes not at all. Or even if it worked, it would flash for a quarter of a second and turn off. Definitely not long enough to tell me the time in the dark. Bought a new battery for it thinking that might be the problem and it didn’t fix the issue. Oh, and by the way, the replacement band for this watch costs almost as much as a new watch.

Second watch bought – SGW-100. Yeah, I know.. Fool me once, right? Well, my thinking was that perhaps that the first one was defective and there was a good chance that the second one would work. No such luck. It had EXACTLY the same issue.

Third watch bought – Casio Men’s G-Shock DW-9052-1CCG Men’s Black Military Watch. I literally could not read the time on this watch. It was so dark, day or night, that I had to return it. The only way to read it was to hit the light. I had to return it.

Fourth watch bought – CASIO Men’s FT500WC-3BVCF Forester Sport Watch with Nylon Band – So maybe a non-digit watch would give me better results or maybe I am just a glutton for punishment? The light stopped working after one day. I had to return this one as well.

My wife bought me analog timex expedition some time ago, with a backlight that has worked flawlessly since day one. It doesn’t give me all the bells and whistles that my Casio’s had, and if it wasn’t for the lighting issues, I’d still be wearing a Casio today, but I think I have finally learned my lesson. Farewell Casio!

Most reviews of this watch are positive, so mine will be no surprise. I really like it. I only bought it to make use of one of the 4 straps I had in 20mm sitting around without a watch to put them on – I returned a small Seiko that I didn’t like and had bought two straps for, and had two others from old watches I no longer wear. It was hard getting the stock strap off and even harder getting a new one on because the lugs seem to be a little narrower than 20mm and I really had to dig with the tool. I ruined a good strap by cutting it back a little clumsily with an exacto blade in an attempt to make it fit. But here’s the problem: most straps these days have small plastic tubes inside of which the spring pins go and they have no flexibility whatever so you’ll never be able to squish the strap to make it fit. Also, the tubes are fitted so tightly to the leather it never occurred to me to try to push them out, which is why I cut that one strap back. I did get it on but I had cut back a little too far – I could see the pins glinting between the strap and the lugs – and it wasn’t until I tried the only strap that didn’t have tubes inside that I was okay. It was probably the best colour choice anyway, as in the photos. If anyone else plans to swap out that cheesy nylon strap for something better, don’t get a quick-release strap because there’s no play on them at all, and you won’t be able to push out the interior tubes because of the little right-angle branches that stick out of the pins for retracting the spring.

The case size is described in the listing as 41mm but that must include the bump at 3 o’clock for the light button. The actual dial and overall impression of the watch is more like 39mm but that’s just a guess as I don’t have a way to measure precisely. I have a small wrist and always have to pull my straps to the second-last or last hole, so on me this watch doesn’t look particularly small but it no doubt would on a bigger guy.

The watch appealed to me for its beige dial and though I don’t especially like dials wih numerals because they look like they’re for kids, I like them here because they’re olive green – outlined in black! -which goes well with the beige dial and the black & green case. I’m not hard on my watches so the fact that other reviews say the lens is plastic and scratches easily doesn’t bother me. What I appreciate about the lens is that it’s slightly domed, which disperses reflections off the surface and makes it easier to read the time & date.

Speaking of the date, the date window is framed in black like the hour numerals and I’m glad about that because a date window that isn’t framed looks cheap compared. I really respect Casio for these little details on such an inexpensive watch.

When you push the light button, the light appears at 6 o’clock and it’s very orange. If you’re expecting the whole dial to be illuminated all around, you’re expecting too much. I’m going to avoid this function so the battery will have the longest life possible. If the watch had been available in a solar version I would easily have paid double or triple but it won’t kill me to go to a watch shop in a couple years for a battery change.

I’m surprised how much I like this watch, a lot more than just because it soaks up an extra leather strap, but on the other hand I wouldn’t wear it if I hadn’t finally succeeded in getting that old tan strap onto it making it look like an heirloom, and I think the photos prove the point that context is everything.

I bought this watch because I liked the rugged camping gear look/style. Here are the pros and cons:
    Pros:
    Inexpensive
Reliable (outlasted and was more accurate than a couple of my more expensive watches)
lights up in the dark with a push of a button
Battery lasts a long time if you don’t use the light much
    Is very light and comfortable
Perfect color and style for outdoors, camping, hiking

    Cons:
    Watch body is plastic
    Watch face isn’t glass/crystal, it’s plastic
Watch band fastens with plastic (mine broke after a year when I hit it accidentally)

Bottom line: If you want a cheap, stylish & reliable watch this is a great choice as long as you are OK with most of the watch being plastic.

It is lighting weight and very comfortable. This is a replacement for one I bought thirty years ago which is still working but the strap is a bit the worse for heavy wear.
