Maybe our pony has a big head, but I don’t really think so. He is more Welsh B type, and only 12h. We bought the weanling/pony size, and wish I would’ve gotten the yearling size. The nose is great, but the cheeks as you can see, are too short and can cause rubbing sores from the buckles. I think we also have the crown on either the second to last or last hole. I don’t have many nylon halters like this, as we are rope halter people, but I wanted something easy for my daughter to get on and off, but the throat clip was too difficult for her, so she decided to learn how to tie a rope halter properly. The throat is also NOT rolled (as of Feb 26, 2019), but it is an attractive halter. We’ll stick to rope halters though, they are much more forgiving in size.

I have a draft cross with a relatively proportional head. When I ordered this, it did not specify this was the “LARGE” draft size, not the smaller. There is a difference. I could fit my horse’s head in this twice over and still have room. It’s a really nice halter in the perfect colour, but way too big. Weaver does carry a smaller Draft halter, so please check the specs before you purchase.

The halter overall is good quality, but the size is way off. We have a very refined mare and we couldn’t even get it on her head. I don’t believe it is an average mini size. Not even sure it would fit a mini foal. Very hesitant to purchase another one off here because the measurements are so off.

I bought one of these 3 years ago and it stood up well, after the first year the lime green color was faded but it still washed up and held up nicely with good stitching and hardware. After about 1.5 years the chin strap clip got bent and didn’t close until I hammered it back into place more. It was iffy and had to get whacked several times for over a year and a half but it wasn’t until a few days ago that it finally broke during a touch up hammering. Amazon’s price currently beat the online horse supply stores I had previously purchased from and I went with graphite and french blue colors and they are really nice.

My horse is pasture boarded so he doesn’t wear a halter unless I’m doing something with him, but during the warmer months I honestly just hang his halter and lead on a tree branch or hook on the fence out in the sun/rain/elements. 3 years of abuse and the only wear was color fade and a clip broken from being constantly beaten is a good longevity in my book. If he had to wear a halter full time I would have gotten a single-layer nylon adjustable halter with just rings instead of these very heavy D-shaped rings, just so he’d have something lighter.

My horse is a 16h 1000-1100 quarter horse with a proportional but more warmblood-looking than QH-looking head and the large horse size fits perfectly on the smaller holes for the behind the ears strap and the middle size holes for the around the nose strap.

Love weaver products! This is no exception! It fits my large 16hh gelding easily and he looks handsome in it! No complaints. It doesn’t seem to rub him and is easy to take on and off. I would reccomend. Also got the matching lead line.

It looks great & fits great. Even though he is a miniature donkey, he has a big head. This was exactly what we needed! The color is also beautiful on him!

I am so sorry to write this review because Weaver makes such great products. That is why this review gets a three and not a one star review. The quality of the construction is nice, but I bought three of these in two separate orders and I am sorry I did…or at least I am very sorry I bought RED. These halters are for two magnificent grey Percheron horses and one Beligan horse. The Percherons are considered grey, but these are white horses. It hasn’t rained, and my horses have red streaks on their faces from wearing these halters ~ everywhere the halters touched their hair. It looks terrible. I will try again to get the red off of my horses faces but it looks like it is dyed their faces. I need to get these replaced before it snows on Thursday or the dye might become really dark on their faces. This is really a thumbs DOWN halter if you have a light coloured horse. Don’t buy Red, and now I am shy to buying other colours. The watch eyed horse model above has a white blaze, and has obviously not been wearing this halter except for the photo, or you would see Red on it’s hair. I really don’t like to leave a bad review for such a good company, but come on Weaver, this is really unacceptable. Be forewarned if you have a light coloured horse that the Red halter will stain their hair. This is sad because it is an otherwise a very nice halter which would get 5 stars if not for this horrible staining issue.

I’m very happy with this halter. I have a large quarterhorse gelding, with a larger head. If he decides, he can sit back and snap a leather halter in a heartbeat.
This halter is VERY strong, very pliant, easily adjustable, and has quality brass fittings.
Any new halter I buy for every day use in the future will be a Weaver nylon halter.
    Thanks very much.

Weaver has one of the best halters out there. The hardware is really good quality, the nylon is thick, with bright colors that don’t fade easily. I ordered a burgundy halter size small for my 5yo Rocky Mtn, she has a really narrow, petite face like an Arabian, she only fits pony, yearling, Arab, and now this halter! I was worried it wouldnt fit but it does and we love it. I wish they made these in yellow though!! But the burgundy was true to its picture.

I LOVE Weaver halters. I’ve used them with my horse since he was a weanling (15 years), and I’ve only ever had to buy a new one because he outgrew it or it got too dirty or faded to look pretty anymore. This is the only brand of halter he hasn’t been able to break (he was a bit feisty through training) unlike the DuMor (tractor supply company) and similar brands. He wears a large in other brands but an average in Weaver, and the halter is so adjustable that I can get a perfect fit on any horse I use one on. I also love that they come in so many colors. I bought this brown one as a spare for traveling and such but haven’t needed it because the turquoise one has lasted over a year.
